AbbVie’s energy management programme is focused on further innovation and replicability by developing and advancing new technologies, systems, and approaches which have the capacity to influence sustainable energy use.
Innovations are shared within the AbbVie network to further replicability and to ensure dissemination of intellectual capital. This approach has delivered energy savings and reduced CO2 footprint, thus delivering a positive socio-economic impact.
Since its inception in 2013, AbbVie has invested approximately €6 million in Sustainable and Renewable Energy Programmes in Ireland. During this period site achievements have also been recognised within AbbVie, the Industry and by a number of different external agencies and bodies. These include the 2014 Chambers Ireland Excellence in Environment Award, the 2015 Sustainable Energy Achievement Award at the 2015 SEAI Green Awards and two Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) Corporate Energy Management Awards for Western Europe in 2012 and 2015. AbbVie also recently received the coveted AEE International Energy Project of the Year title and was the winner of the 2018 Green Pharmaceutical Award.
